The dust has barely even settled on this year’s IPL 2021 auction and cricket fanatics and IPL experts alike are already making their predictions on how this IPL season will turn out and who will go all the way to lifting the trophy in June.
A number of betting sites have round the clock cricket odds for those earnest fans who like to place a wager. Although following the annual mass movement and updated rosters of the IPL auction that is when the real odds really begin to take shape.
IPL betting sites in India are already making their predictions against fresh odds but who is set to be favourite this time round?
Three in a row might not be one too far
Five time champions Mumbai Indians are unsurprisingly being backed as favorites after back to back victories in 2019 and 2020 respectively. Strong across the board, it’s hard to see where Mumbai fall short and that’s why the odds are even lower than pre-tournament last year.
The reigning champions aren’t set on letting their lead slip either, with significant reinforcements coming in the shape of opener Chris Lynn and all-rounder Jimmy Neesham. Expect big things from Mumbai this year once again.
Another title would make it three in a row and that’s why the bookmakers certainly have them as favourites at an all time pre-tournament low of 4.33.
Narrowly missing out to Delhi Capitals to claim a final showdown spot against Mumbai last time round, Sunrisers Hyderabad showed significant glimpses of what they’re truly capable of.
As this IPL betting preview shows, Sunrisers are definitely an outsider bet to win IPL 2021 but a strong backbone to their side makes them a force to be reckoned with.
Retaining the core of their side with the likes of Kane Williamson, Jonny Bairstow and David Warner, as well as seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, experienced heads will likely be their best asset going forward.
Sunrisers are currently priced at around 7.0 with a number of top Indian bookmakers making them a serious prospect for many ahead of this season’s tournament.
Big Spenders Bangalore in the top three
Followed by Mumbai, Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore are the two remaining top three favourites priced at around 5.50 and 6.0 respectively.
No surprises that finalists from last year Delhi Capitals are included, with a spate of Indian talent making up their squad. Alongside Capitals are Bangalore who recently broke the bank at this year’s IPL auction.
Big things are expected from Bangalore with the array of big money talent on their books, but no surprises if they fall short once more.
Although cricket fans wait with baited breath as the final three ODIs between India and England will take place behind closed doors, the world’s most popular cricket tournament is still set to go ahead with a highly anticipated homecoming.
IPL 2021 is scheduled to get started on 9 April when top three favourites Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore will be hoping to bust out the crowds for a landmark homecoming.
